i've made two discoveries the past week that will make my life in nyc both simpler and more exhilarating (sometimes at the same time). hopstop is a handy tool to keep both in your web browser as well as your phone. going from point a to point b? hopstop provides you directions via subway, bus, or walking. and the icing on the cake is if you're not one of those trendsetters with your $300 iphone and internet access, you can simply text their number and you'll get directions beamed to you as soon as you push send and before you have the urge to ask the police officer walking by for directions. i wonder how long until i can be my own hopstop and not have to rely on one of the smartest websites ever...now if you thought hopstop was as good as it got, then you're in for a huge shocker. omgicu has to be why nyc is one of the top locations north of antarctica, west of australia, and east of the pacific ocean. forget about the world renowned restaurants, high end fashion, 24 hour nightlife, and all the cultural diversity...nyc houses millions of celebrity sightings. for example, last week i spotted constantine (see previous post) walking in the west side. in true gossip girl style, i could have texted in to omgicu and every member could have received a text with the words "long haired b-list hippie, constantine, seen wandering about the upper west side looking for his next 5th place finish." users are able to vote if they care or not. notable sightings include justin timberlake working out at new york sports club and rachel mcadams walking hand in hand with some guy not named matt. i'm guessing i'll spend a day or two following these sightings to see if i can snap some photos true paparazzi style.
more updates to come shortly which will include my favorite foods so far, trip to philly, and a brand new job.
